Summary of Position
The Idaho Conservation League (ICL) is currently seeking a 2019 summer intern. The
ideal applicant has a background or interest in empowering members, supporters,
volunteers and others to become involved in conservation issues. This individual also
has experience and/or interest in outdoor recreation, environmental law or public
policy. The intern will interact with and support the growing number of people in North
Idaho who care deeply about enjoying and protecting Idaho’s environment.

Assist ICL’s North Idaho office to connect people in the region with conservation
campaigns. The individual will use engagement tools and help with events that share
ICL’s story and the nonprofit’s work in environmental conservation.
● Assist North Idaho program staff with conservation campaigns.
● Assist North Idaho engagement staff by representing ICL at community summer
● Assist ICL’s communications team in promoting events via social media.
● Assist ICL’s development team to help with member appreciation activities.
● Spread knowledge and awareness building through our digital advocacy tools.
● Recruit volunteers for future events and advocacy.
● Lead at least one hike, outing or event as part of a summer adventure series.

Necessary Skills
Strong work habits, excellent communication and organizational skills, proficient social
media skills (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), and confidence as an advocate.
Internship Benefits
The internship will provide a variety of professional development opportunities via
real-world conservation work experience and exposure to the many roles within a
statewide nonprofit organization. Our goal is to find an applicant who can make a
contribution to our team by working to meaningfully advance ICL's goals and mission. In
turn, the intern will gain experience, knowledge and make connections that will further
their career.

Hours and Compensation
The internship will be 10 weeks in length, from June to August, and is anticipated to
require an average of 20 hour per week fulfill. The exact start and end dates are
somewhat flexible. This position will include some weekends and evenings and possible
overnight travel. A stipend of $1500 is available, and when pre-approved, travel costs
may be reimbursable. Credit may be possible for those still enrolled in a college or
university program. This position is based out of the Sandpoint office.
